Named after St. John Henry Newman, a 19th-century theologian whose writings have earned him the title “Doctor of the Church,” Newman Centers are Catholic ministries for college students at a public or non-Catholic university. Here at Chico State, our Newman Center offers opportunities for students to connect with their faith through prayer, access to the sacraments, bible studies, social events, and we welcome all students interested in learning more about the Catholic faith.

Just a few steps from campus, our Newman Center offers space to meet as a group, a quiet place to study, or a place to socialize with friends - not to mention the great food offered on Sunday evenings after Mass!

Newman Council

The Newman Center student leadership team is composed of current Chico State and Butte College student volunteers. They joined the Council with a desire to grow in their life of faith, and being witnesses of the Gospel, to glorify God through their service to their fellow student. If you are interested in learning more, please speak with one of our student leaders.
